Adoption Feedback - Happy Tails

These are just a few of the hundreds of animals who are successfully adopted from the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter every year! This is why we do what we do every day.

Won't you please consider getting your next pet from a shelter?

If you have a Happy Tail from CVAS, email your story and picture to cvasoc@innernet.net to be included in this page.

"Sweet Pea"
(The black and tan baby)

Here’s some pictures of Sweet Pea, who we adopted one month ago from CVAS!  She is fitting in nicely and growing every day.  Her biting is much better and she is getting along with our other dog Sammi, (an adoptee 10 years ago from Antietam Humane Society.)  The cats, as you can see, is another story!  We do call her Maggie, now formally, but Sweet Pea remains our term of endearment for her.  Thanks to you guys for sticking it out with her through her unadoptable times!   With a lot of attention she is learning how to act appropriately!  She can sit (thanks to the head start from Ashley), she can go down, roll over, come, whine or bark to go outside, and shake hands.  She is working on stay and finish.  She is also now able to sit nicely at meal time while her older sister finishes her meal, (instead of the previous, stick her head in the other’s bowl and shove her out of the way!)  She’s already had her first bath, nails clipped, and ears cleaned at Wilson College’s Dog Wash.  She’s been to field hockey games and made a car trip to Ohio.  One of the pictures attached is from a car ride – great bonding experience as you can tell!  I hope you enjoy the pictures, we sure enjoy her!

"Harley"

I always wanted a Harley but will never have one, so I named mister handsome: “Harley Davidson.” He is so loving and getting along with his sister. He is getting spoiled and I love him to pieces. Just wanted to say thank you for bringing him into my life.

Sincerely, Diane

"Smurf"

I just wanted to send an update on Smurf and her eye condition. We still don't have the herpes test results back (they sure take a long time!!) but we did have another exam and a stain test done on her eye Friday and it appears that there is NO ulcer. That's not to say that there *hadn't* been one however.

She's still on antibiotic cream (terramycin) and drops for pain (Athropine) although she doesn't seem to be too bothered by it. She wakes us up every morning chewing on our ankles and butting us in the head with her wet nose to get up and play with her. She seems VERY happy in her new home and loves all the attention/pampering she's getting. Everyone is in love with her...she's such a special kitty.

Her eye looks worse but I'm told that the "pink" is a good thing as she's growing lots of new blood vestals to heal the eye. We are still hopeful that someday we'll see an eye under this swollen mess but if we need to remove the eye, that's fine too. We'd love her just the same, one eye'd or two :)

I will keep you updated on any changes.

"Camille"

We adopted Camille back in Feb. 2005, from the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.  She is such a joy. She is a beautiful, nice cat.  We love her very much.

"Fred"

Just wanted to give you an update on a dog I adopted from Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter Feb. 25th 2002.  He was part of a sibling pair named Fred and Barney.  He was Fred.  His name was changed to Lokai and he is still the sweetest little boy ever.  We recently moved and he has lots of grassy areas to run, play ball and enjoy all of the things dogs love to do!  He now has a sister, Kia (an Australia shep mix), that keeps him very busy.  I have been wanted to write this letter for some time because it’s always nice to hear an adoption success story.  I’m a veterinary technician and know the importance of hearing some good news every now and then.  So thank you for bringing Lokai and I together, we both appreciate it greatly.

Thank you
Sarah
