CVAS helps rescued dogs

When the Department of Agriculture asked for help in placing dogs seized at a recent raid, staff at CVAS made room in the kennels and said yes.

"In the past when we've asked for help in similar situations, other rescues and shelters have stepped up, so we figure it's only right to return the favor," said Shelter Manager Jennifer Merletti. "We're all in the same fight here, so we should help each other out when we can."

CVAS has received five poodles from the raid of a Lehigh County Kennel -- two standards, two mini's and one toy.

The animals will not be made available for adoption until they are spayed and neutered and completely evaluated. We're hoping to have them up for adoption by the end of next week.

Interested people may put in an application, but the dogs will not be available for the public to view until after their surgery.

"They're all really sweet dogs," Merletti said. "We should have no trouble at all finding them good homes. We just need to give them time to settle in, get through their surgery and then they'll be put out in our adoption kennels."

We've named them after 80's rock icons: Steve Perry, Journey, Reo, Speedwagon and Jem.
