kansasThe Bunny love continues at CVAS

Hello everyone, this is Tish and I have an update on the Happy Ending Bunny Tail.

The shelter has been inundated with a lot of cats so we had to make arrangements to place the rabbits either in a foster home or come up with another area for them while we are waiting on the Bunny Rescue.

We need to keep our bunnies happy until the day comes they go the Rescue or get adopted. We now have a Rabbit Playpen for them to spend time outside of their cage. If you have time, the buns would love to get to run! Stop by soon!

They are doing really well as far as getting to know people. The shelter staff responsible for cleaning the rabbit cages have helped in this project and this has made for very happy buns.

I bring in kale and carrots for them all of the time -- an important part of their diet. If anyone would like to bring in some of their faviorte vegtables, the bunnies would really appreciate this.

With space being an issue I decided that I would foster another rabbit -- yes, foster.  I know what you are thinking.

So now we have one brown rabbit named Thumper, who is actually a female so I have since renamed her Ms. Lilly.

Ms. Lilly came into the shelter shortly after the other rabbits came in.  Lilly was rescued by a family that found her as a baby bunny in the woods -- the mother was nowhere to be found. She was raised by this this family who had to surrender her to the shelter.

I was not sure how Kansas was going to take this new bunny coming into his space and sharing his family.

An important factor in considering bringing more than one rabbit into your home is choosing the right sex combination, which will most definitely maintain peace around your home. A male and female will get along much better than rabbits of the same sex.

Well when the day came that Ms. Lilly came to our home, Kansas was so curious. We first kept Ms. Lily in the rabbit hutch. I would let her out a couple hours a day so that she and Kansas could get use to each other.

Needless to say this didn’t take long. Kansas would stand up on his hind feet to look in at her -- he was really excited.

To my amazement, Kansas accepted Ms. Lilly with open bunny arms. Ms. Lily is very happy in her new home and has accepted Kansas as well. They clean each other and run around the rec room together. Ms. Lilly was litter box trained in a very short time and this makes me so happy because I do not have to keep her in the cage anymore.

Kansas is so much more affectionate; I think he wanted a friend or in this case a girlfriend. Needless to say everything has turned out well and I have decided to adopt Lilly.

This is the end of this Bunny Tail.
