POLICIES AND PROCEDURES The animals that come to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter are from a variety of sources. All animals are examined upon entry and their health is routinely monitored while at the shelter, but there is always a chance that an animal is harboring a disease without showing any signs. We ask that the animal be taken to a vet within 14 days of adoption for a routine health check and a rabies vaccination. After that time, veterinary care for adopted animals is the sole responsibility of the new owner. Fees are: Dogs/Puppies 7 months and
older - $105 Cats/Kittens 7 months and
older - $70 Franklin County Dog Licenses available for $6.50 In order to be considered eligible to adopt one of our animals, you must:
**Note: The financial costs to care for an animal for his/her lifetime can be very expensive. The average yearly expenses include, but are not limited to: Vet Care = $75 - $300; Pet supplies = $50 - $300; Food = $200 - $500. We care very much about the animals in our shelter. We want to make sure everyone who adopts knows what's involved with caring for a pet for the duration of his or her life in an effort to decrease the number of animals returned to the shelter. If you are willing and able to accept the aforementioned conditions, please continue to our electronic adoption form here. |
