A HUGE "THANK YOU" TO ALL THE RESCUES WHO HELPED...

Before bringing in 63 dogs to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, we already had 38 stray and owner surrendered dogs in our kennels. With our "comfort level" at 35 dogs, we were already a little worried about our dog situation in the kennels.

Needless to say, when we took in 63 more, we knew something needed to be done -- quickly -- to accommodate all the canines in the shelter.

Rescue organizations were contacted for help in getting these dogs out of the kennels and into some kind of home environment. We knew the best thing for these 63 pups -- some of them shy and slightly hesitant -- was to get them out of the shelter and into a more quiet, calm place as quickly as we could. Shelter life is stressful for any pet. And the last thing these 63 babies needed was more stress.

We were so pleased and touched at the number of rescue organizations who stepped up to the plate for us during this situation and we want to thank all of the rescues and individuals that contacted the shelter offering to help. Whether it was to rescue, foster, transport, or contact other groups, the response was so great that many of the groups and individuals were not used at this time.

CVAS hopes to keep these budding relationships with the rescues and individuals going, so that together we can save many more lives. We often feel that two little words are never enough to truly express our gratitude, but we hope these rescue groups know our "thank you" is very sincere and heartfelt. We don't know what we would have done without you.

The following organizations have helped us by either taking animals for us, grooming the pups, providing much-needed advice or putting the call out for help...
