Donations

We sincerely appreciate all the donations we receive and are thrilled that you opted to help our animals. Without the support from the community and thoughtful folks like you, we wouldn’t be able to function. We hope you understand that if a product is in great condition, we may opt to sell it at our thrift stores. The money we receive from sales at our stores goes to help the animals in our care. Thank you so much for your kindness!

Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter uses these brands of dog and cat food:

Purina (as long as there are NO DYES -- all kibble should be brown)
Nutro
Science Diet
Blue Buffalo
Iams
Wellness
Pedigree (as long as there are NO DYES -- all kibble should be brown)
Eukanuba
Royal Canin
Innova
Halo
The Good Life Recipe

We really work to keep any and all dyes out of our food -- it can cause stomach and skin irritation for some animals, so please make sure the food is only brown in color (no reds, greens, or odd colors).

We also only feed our animals products that have some kind of MEAT as the first ingredient. Anything else is just filler and not good for their systems.

CVAS's dogs and cats need as much consistency and good, quality nutrients in their diets as we can give them because many of them came to us from very unstable environments. Life on the streets, eating anything they could get their paws on, doesn't make for a healthy life or diet.

Help us make their stay with us as comfortable and beneficial as we can.

Thank you.

If you can't donate food or supplies, the best way to help homeless pets today is by making an online donation through PayPal. We spend, on average, $250 per animal who comes through our doors every year. When we care for just about 2,000 animals a year, you can see how our costs add up quickly.

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter has an account set up with PayPal and you don't even need a PayPal account to donate. PayPal accepts most major credit cards. Monies donated via PayPal will help care for the homeless animals we see every year. Simply click the link below and you'll be taken to a secure site to make a donation to CVAS:

When making a donation to PayPal, please mark it as GIFT in Payment Type, otherwise PayPal will charge a percentage and the shelter won't receive your entire donation. THANK YOU!!

CVAS also maintains a wish list of items needed at the shelter on a daily basis. At this point, we're really in need of kitten food, feline pine cat litter, bleach and heavy duty 55 gallon trash bags.

We always use other supplies throughout the year. Anyone who could take the time to drop off any of the items would help to keep the shelter going. Items on our wish list include:

Dogs:   Cats:
Dog food (with no dyes)   Cat food (with no dyes)
Treats   Toys (such as Kongs, recommended by Spots.com)
Toys   Feline Pine Cat Litter

Aluminum cans can be deposited at the shelter any time of the day or night. We have a fenced-in area by the garage for the drop off of cans. Please put the cans in a bag and tie the bag shut. We recycle the cans for money that goes to help the animals.

Monetary donations are always welcome. Without the financial support from this community, CVAS would not be able to function each year.
