EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter occasionally has employment opportunities available for both the shelter and thrift stores.

 

CVAS is looking for a part-time Animal Care Technician.

Qualifications:

High school graduate or GED.

Prior experience in the animal welfare field desirable.

Knowledge of animal behavior, traits and proper care.

Ability to speak clearly, understand the English language and communicate well with others.

Ability to complete forms, documents and reports in legible handwriting and in the English language and when necessary, in computer format.

Physical ability to lift and carry large animals and sacks of food, litter and supplies weighing over 50 pounds.

Ability to receive rabies pre-exposure vaccine.

No unmanageable animal-related allergies.

Assist in euthanasia when required.

Duties:

Disinfect and clean and thoroughly dry kennel, cages, bedding, toys and bowl and litter pans daily.

Maintain all animals in a clean, dry and comfortable manner.

Clean and sanitize on a regular basis, all areas of the shelter, including floors, walls, equipment and other items as specified.

Scoop each animal's run and cage as needed and frequently.

Insure each animal has proper food and water at all times.

Groom and wash animals as needed.

Monitor each animal's physical condition and behavior frequently, throughout the day.

Medicate animals under the direction of the Shelter Manager.

Provide affection and socialization to all animals on a daily basis.

Stock supplies as needed.

Assist the Shelter Manager and Office Manager in paper work processing.

Greet, escort and assist visitors looking to adopt animals.

Support and work with the Adoption Counselor.

All other dutes as assigned.
